2 Delicious Recipes!
1 Unforgettable Afternoon!
The Bell Museum, UMN College of Biological Sciences Conservatory, and The Good Acre are joining forces to tell a fun food story in three informative and engaging chapters.
- Start at the Bell Museum with an exclusive guided tour of the new exhibit Our Global Kitchen: Food, Nature, Culture, produced by the American Museum of Natural History, to learn about the intersection of food, nature, culture, health, and history.
- Take a quick ride to the UMN College of Biological Sciences Conservatory–home to the most diverse collection of plants in the upper midwest–to encounter interesting food plants from around the world.
- Enjoy a hands-on cooking demonstration and tasting at The Good Acre with guest chef instructors Beth Jones and Nettie Colòn of UMN’s Campus Club. Ever wondered what happens when a Puerto Rican chef meets a German/Austrian chef from Minnesota? The best Latin/German/Midwestern fusion you can imagine! Experience their unique blends of family favorites and holiday fare with a menu of Nettie’s Fricasé de Pollo, Zanahorias, Papas y Arroz (Chicken Fricasse with Carrots, Potatoes & Nettie’s “Sure to Get Me a Husband” Rice) and Beth’s Aunt Dodie’s Chocolate Yule Log with Cinnamon Whipped Cream.
Bring your favorite recipe and a story to share from your family’s holiday cookbook, and discuss global food traditions while eating your celebratory meal and sipping our local punch!
