Discover: Sustainable Fish with Sitka Salmon Shares

June 17, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

$15.00

Wild-caught, line-caught, farm-raised, red fish, blue fish, and so on . . . As a conscientious consumer, the world of fish can be confusing. The first of our Discover Series will take a deep dive (pun intended) into the world of sustainable fish.  Come learn what all the labels mean and how to source fish sustainably from our expert fish friends at Sitka Salmon Shares (SSS).

You’ll hear from SSS MN Manager Richie Mann, along with food blogger Amanda Paa of Heartbeet Kitchen. They’ll share their stories about sustainable fishing in Alaska and SSS’s unique approach, demo how to breakdown a whole coho salmon, and prepare a poke bowl buffet for you to enjoy along with a local brew. You’ll learn about what it means to “Know your Fisherman” and walk away with practical knowledge to help you make buying choices that support more sustainable oceans.

About the Discover Series: This educational happy hour series explores different aspects of sustainable food systems in a fun and casual setting. This class is sponsored by Sitka Salmon Shares.
