Everyday Japanese
April 28, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
$65.00Sushi, yakitori, ramen — these are dishes we often associate with Japanese cuisine and what we see in restaurants; however, they don’t accurately represent everyday Japanese cuisine and the way Japanese eat at home. Rice and miso soup are the foundation of a typical Japanese meal. Rice is so important that Japanese call rice “main food” with “one soup and three dishes” accompanying the rice forming the basic structure of a Japanese meal. Usually, the three dishes are a combination of a fish or meat dish and vegetable dishes. In this hands on class with instructor Kimiko Molasky, you’ll learn how to replicate this simple formula at home to make accessible, easy, and delicious Japanese meals a part of your menu rotation. You’ll create a simple Japanese meal with a bowl of healthy miso soup, Japanese style rice, fish, vegetables, and tofu, all expertly prepared and seasoned and ready for your dinner table.
Class menu will include:
- Miso Soup with Wakame and Tofu
- Japanese Rice
- Grilled Salmon
- Sesame Spinach
- Cold Tofu
- Quick Pickled Cucumber
