Kids in the Kitchen: Baking Basics

Whether your child is an aspiring bake-off champion or has never used more than a toy oven, getting kids baking in the kitchen is a great way to bring your family together to have fun and enjoy home-baked creations. This hands on class taught by Beth Jones, Executive Chef of the U of M’s Campus Club, is designed for you and your child to bake together. Beth will go over basic baking skills, safety, and tips for success for beginner bakers. The focus will be on relaxing in the kitchen, getting your kid involved, and building their confidence in baking up delicious homemade treats– bake sale here you come!

Class menu will include:

  • Beet the Devil Chocolate Layer Cake (Yes it contains beets!)
  • Laurie’s Never Fail Pie Crust
  • Fresh Berry Tarts with Whipped Cream

Note: Each participant must purchase a ticket. Class participants must be 9 years or older. Adults may bring up to 2 children per adult. All minors are required to have a parent/guardian sign a minor waiver at the start of class. If you are not the parent/guardian of the child you are attending with, please have the waiver signed before class. A link to the minor waiver is included in the confirmation email.
