Plant Your Garden, and Cook It Too!

Spring planting season is almost upon us! If you’re starting a backyard garden from scratch this year, or want to up your game with the one you already have, this class will help you make the most of your garden this growing season. In this class taught by Courtney Tchida, of the Horticulture Society, and Beth Jones, Executive Chef at the U of M’s Campus Club, you’ll learn what to plant and how to use what you grow. Courtney will gives tips and talk plans for what and when to plant, and how much to grow. Then you’ll join Beth for hands on time in the kitchen as you create seasonal recipes based on what produce would be available throughout the season so you can be sure to enjoy the fruits (and vegetables!) of your labor.
Class menu will include:
- Rabbit Patch Salad of Spring Greens with Radishes, Eggs, Asparagus and Beets
- Ratatouille with Heirloom Tomatoes, Eggplant and Zucchini
- Papardelle Pasta with Roasted Squash, Onion and Winter Greens
