Venezuelan Street Food: Arepas

For many of us, some of our most memorable meals are from places we’ve stumbled upon off the beaten path, no-frills– just honest, good food. In this hands-on class for the culinary curious, TGA’s resident chef, Julia Cohen, and her partner, chef Hector Revilla, will take your tastebuds on a journey through the streets of Venezuela!
Hector and Julia will teach you how to make arepas, a fried corn cake with a crispy outside and soft fluffy center. Arepas are portable, grab and go snack that can be filled with a wide variety of delicious things. Participants will make an assortment of fillings and accoutrements to go with the arepas, as well as a bonus dish of baked and stuffed plantains. You’ll leave the class full of delicious food and with a deeper understanding of Venezuelan cuisine and culture!
