A Minnesota native, Julia came to The Good Acre after working several years in the restaurant industry. She attended culinary school at Saint Paul College and graduated from their Culinary Program in the spring of 2014. Julia’s passion for food first drove her to New York City, where she had the opportunity to work for several restaurants throughout the city, including Dirt Candy, a well-known vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Manhattan. While the big city had its thrills, Julia made her way back to Minnesota in the fall of 2016. She then began working at The Bachelor Farmer. Immersed in their farm to table focus, Julia learned a great deal about local and sustainable farming in the greater Twin Cities area, and her growing interest in locally procured ingredients and her desire to work in the nonprofit world led her to The Good Acre.

Since joining our team, Julia has filled multiple roles at TGA. She assists in cooking classes, teaches cooking classes, coordinates with volunteers, sources ingredients, and acts as our Culinary Support Specialist for our Farm to School clients. In that role, Julia aids school Nutrition Service teams with vegetable preparation, equipment training, as well as recipe development. When she’s not helping lunch ladies work on their roasting skills, you can find Julia relaxing on her roof deck or enjoying the outdoors with friends.
